Academy Electric is an electrical contractor based in Madison, Wisconsin.  Conceived in 1962 by Earl and Marian Mylrea, Academy Electric has invested over 40 years in the pursuit of the ultimate in customer service and satisfaction.

With commercial and residential departments comprised of four project managers, twenty-two electrical technicians, an efficient warehouse and an office staff that never seems to stop; Academy Electric has established itself as a premier Electrical service and construction contractor in southern Wisconsin.

Academy Electric's list of testimonials is as broad as it is long.  Our commercial department has been active in nearly all fast track construction and remodeling of southern Wisconsin's Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Arby's, and McDonalds restaurants.   Academy Electric's residential department works with several top builders and remodelers in Madison and specializes in fire and water damage repair.  Both residential and commercial divisions combined have a total of fourteen fully stocked, radio dispatched service vehicles on call 24 hours a day and out customer service is second to none.

Steven Mylrea - President 

    Steve holds a Bachelors of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University Wisconsin-Madison and has been with Academy Electric since 1973.  He is the primary project manager for large commercial projects and a great deal of the design build projects Academy Electric performs.  Steve is also a state of Wisconsin registered professional engineer and has achieved the status of State Certified Electrical Contractor and Master Electrician in his years in the trade.  Steve is an active participant in the IBEW Apprenticeship Committee and is a company representative for National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

David Mylrea - Vice-President

    Dave holds an electrical degree from Dunwoody College of Technology, is a registered Electrical Designer, and has been with Academy Electric since 1974.  Dave is also a State Certified Electrical Contractor and Master Electrician.  Along with his many years in the trade he has logged years of participation in the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) as well as the Madison Area Builders Association (MABA).  Dave heads up the new construction division of the residential department.  Along with some remodeling projects, he provides all design build estimating and project management for numerous custom homebuilders in Southern Wisconsin.

Chuck Fox - Vice President of Tegg Sales

   Chuck has 25 years of experience in sales, project management and technical support services.  Clients will appreciate his attention to detail and his consistent follow up, which parallels the Customer for Life relationship fostered by TEGG services.  Chuck is committed to utilizing the capabilities within TEGG services business model, so that commercial customer and new commercial prospects view Academy Electric as their single source for electrical build-out and ongoing maintenance services.

Travis Larson - Project Manager

        Travis joined the Academy Electric management team in 1997 and is the acting manager of the Residential division. Travis has made his primary focus electrical remodeling and has found his passion in creating new and exciting ways to reinvent people’s living spaces using the newest in electrical / data systems and lighting design. As an active member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) he has held the positions of first Vice President, President, and Chairman of the Board for the local association. He has also been a voting member of the National Board of Directors. Of the many committees he has lead in the NARI organization, he is most proud of the creation of the local Celebrating Excellence awards event that helps to promote and celebrate the great remodeling going on in Madison and the surrounding communities. With the belief that educating the public is an important part of customer service, Travis has participated in and facilitated several seminars ranging from electrical safety to what to expect in a successful remodeling project.
